# Connected stores

Connect the store you already run, Shopify or any store that speaks [UCP](https://ucp.dev) (the Universal Commerce Protocol).

- **Catalog.** The assistant searches your store's catalog live. Nothing is copied into Kibanda, so prices and stock are always current.
- **Checkout.** When the customer is ready, the assistant asks your store to turn the customer's cart into a checkout and sends its link in the chat. The cart itself lives on your store (we keep only its id), so its prices, stock and totals are always yours. The customer enters their address and pays on **your** checkout page. Kibanda never takes an address or a payment.
- **Confirmation.** We watch the checkout. When your store reports it paid, the customer gets a confirmation in the chat, with a link to the order page when your store provides one.
- **Where's my order?** The assistant reports the customer's latest checkout (still open, or completed with the order number). It never invents delivery times.

A shop has at most one connection. A shop with no connection is not open for orders: customers are told so.

## Connect

In the dashboard, open **Settings → Connect your store** and enter your store's domain (for example `shop.example.com`). We fetch the store's UCP profile, check that it supports a cart and checkout, and adopt the store's currency as the shop's. **Disconnect** removes the connection and makes the assistant forget every customer's cart. Checkouts already sent keep working on your store.

A store that can't be used is explained in the dashboard: either it doesn't speak UCP or offers no checkout, or we couldn't reach it (try again shortly).

## How we identify ourselves

Requests to your store carry our agent profile, published at `/.well-known/ucp` on the API host: who we are and which of your store's services we use. It contains no secrets.
